A short shelf is a discipline.
Eight products, and the case for not adding a ninth.
A catalog grows because growth is what catalogs do. Marketing teams add a new SKU each quarter; consumers reward newness; the shelf doubles in five years. Most of those additions do not survive the trial they were sold against.
We chose eight because eight is the number our protocols actually require. A ninth would mean either redundancy or a problem we cannot yet solve well. Both are reasons not to ship.
